This becomes a huge comeback of the 38-year-old artist and is also the first proper release since 2014’s album “8”. This time, Fonsi returns with a hot latin-flavoured anthem including the collaboration of fellow reggaeton artist Daddy Yankee.
The result, which was produced by Mauricio Rengifo and Andrés Torres, is an instant radio-ready smash which reminds another top charting hit by Enrique Iglesias, Sebastian Yatra or Ricky Martin.
“Despacito” was written by Fonsi himself along Erika Ender, and it’s confirmed as the first taste of Fonsi’s upcoming ninth studio album, which is expected to be released sometime this year via Universal Music.
The same day, the singer also premiered the official music video to support this comeback single, which was directed by Carlos R. Perez.
